The cap is another of the decorations or attributes that were used in heraldry. They are made usually of black velvet, and they vary as for their number of feathers and to that that of the princes is lifted of seeing you; that of the duke of ermines; that of contrarmiños count; that of contraveros baron; or that of the sinople nobleman. Due to the suppression of the crowns for Napoleón I, they were very used in France, from where the use extended toward Spain.
